We construct a new exact solution to the 5D Einstein equations describing rotating black ring with a single angular momentum surrounded by two Kaluza-Klein bubbles. The solution is generated by 2-soliton Bäcklund transformation. Its physical properties are computed and analyzed. The [...]
We discuss in the planar approximation the effect of double-trace deformations on CFT’s. We show that this large class of models posses a conformal window describing a non-trivial flow between two fixed points of the renormalization group, and reveal the presence of a resonance which we associate [...]
Employing higher order perturbation theory, we obtain charged rotating black holes in odd dimensions, where the Einstein-Maxwell Lagrangian may be supplemented with a Chern-Simons term. Starting from the Myers-Perry solutions, we use the electric charge as the perturbative parameter, and focus on [...]
We find exact power-law solutions for scalar-tensor theories and clarify the conditions under which they can account for an accelerated expansion of the Universe. These solutions have the property that the signs of both the Hubble rate and the deceleration parameter in the Jordan frame may be [...]
We study a gauge theory model where there is an intermediate symmetry breaking to a meta-stable vacuum that breaks a simple gauge group to a U(1) factor. Such models admit the existence of meta-stable magnetic monopoles, which we dub false monopoles. We prove the existence of these monopoles in the [...]
We consider a model where electroweak symmetry breaking is driven by Technicolor dynamics with minimal particle content required for walking coupling and saturation of global anomalies. Furthermore, the model features three additional Weyl fermions singlet under Technicolor interactions, two of [...]
In recent work (Seljak, Hamaus and Desjacques 2009) it was found that weighting central halo galaxies by halo mass can significantly suppress their stochasticity relative to the dark matter, well below the Poisson model expectation. This is useful for constraining relations between galaxies and the [...]
We introduce a new regularization for Thiemann’s Hamiltonian constraint. The resulting constraint can generate the 1-4 Pachner moves and is therefore more compatible with the dynamics defined by the spinfoam formalism. We calculate its matrix elements and observe the appearence of the 15j Wigner [...]
We examine 6 years of cusp crossings by the Polar spacecraft to determine the size and solar wind dependence of cusp diamagnetic cavities (CDCs) and energetic particle events (CEPs). Both are frequently observed (about 50% of the time spent in the cusp). Neither shows a strong statistical dependence on upstream conditions beyond variations in the cusp itself. CEPs are found throughout the cusp, peaking near the magnetopause. CDCs are primarily found near local noon and close to the magnetopause, forming an extended region against the [...]
